There is nothing like a wedding is there

  Have you ever seen a wedding? A magnificent day, and one we imagine to be so much fun for all involved. Well OK, perhaps fun isn’t quite the right word. A wedding is a huge day, a special day, and at least in theory, a wedding is meant to be a once in a lifetime event. Perhaps less so these days though. Ahh never mind the ramblings of an old cynic. Weddings are incredible. A happy couple who are the centre of attention of their adoring family and friends for the day, as their union is recognized and celebrated. Does it get better? Not really. But what are some of the things that go into making a wedding day a success? Other than Bride meets Groom, prolonged courtship, romance, and that sort of thing there is a huge amount of planning? Waste - its so unusual

  Waste is an unusual thing to blog about. Unusual because it’s not something many people often discuss. Sure, we talk about sustainability, and recycling but the very word waste conjures up unpleasant connotations. Images of grime and dirt, something no one wants, so it is thrown away into a bin, put in a big noisy smelly truck in the middle of the night and put in a hole in the middle of nowhere while no one is watching. Then covered up, out of site, out of mind. That is how we humans have handled waste, at least for the last fifty years or so. We could have been doing things differently. It is absolutely fairy to say that we should be doing things very differently. Here is what I mean. True sustainability relies on using only what we need, so there are not many byproducts – or waste – left over. And even those leftover parts have uses in many cases.
