Celebrating a wedding and celebrating it right!

When we think of a wedding ceremony, many people think of the classic and timeless image of a church wedding, bride wearing a gorgeous white wedding dress with flowing train. She is attended by her bridesmaids, flower girls and other attendees. She makes her entrance into the church where the ceremony is to be held, groom waiting at the altar. His best man and others wait with him, often somewhat nervous. A priest or minister is close by, ready to say the solemn vows that confirm the newlyweds matrimonial status. It all sounds so very formal. So scripted. And all so yesterday. While its true that many people still opt for this style of wedding, its also completely fair to say that today there are many different styles of wedding and marriage ceremonies. And they don’t always involve formal situations or in truth, Priests. This post is about some of the many different styles a modern wedding can take, and the different types of officiant available. It’s set in Queensland, so h...

Arriving in Style at Your Wedding

Your wedding is such a big day. Probably one of the biggest, most important days of your life. A wedding day is a day when you will be the centre of attention. With everyone and every thing revolving around you as a person, and you as a couple. There is so much you probably want for your dream day. The perfect partner you have already found but to celebrate that love and eternal bond, there are some things that you just want to be perfect. Such as your wedding ceremony. Your wedding venue. The reception, the party, the dress, the ring, the guests….The list is long indeed. And with that, there are a number of things that shouldn’t be left to chance if you want the day to be the special day you deserve. Have you ever run late to work? Been late to a sports training event? Or maybe a big appointment has been looming and your transport is looking somewhat unreliable. So it arrives late. The traffic is bad. And you get to where you are going, albeit flustered, ill at ease and down...

Bespoke Bridal in Brisbane?

That’s what this post is all about – getting married in Brisbane, Australia, and some of the things you might need to consider beforehand. In this post, we are going to touch on three key elements that every wedding will need. These are things like the ring. Pretty clear that is a must have item. Then there is a wedding dress. Don’t get married without one. And how are you going to get to the wedding? Catch a bus? We don’t think that’s a very good idea so we’d also like to talk about wedding cars and how to choose a good one. There – so that’s the basic idea. Getting married. Wonder who first thought that one up. Whoever it was has created a pretty much ongoing trend of going over the top to provide the best wedding experience possible. Well, okay, so not every wedding subscribes to that idea. And just as well too. First to the wedding ring. There are several different schools of thought on wedding rings. Many people like as big and bold and glamorous a wedding ring as poss...

Tips to avoid wedding car hire disasters

A wedding is a big day, there is no denying. Possibly one of the biggest days of anyone’s life. From the moment you laid eyes on each other you knew. You just knew that one day you would be walking down the aisle together, looking into one anothers eyes, and saying those words that join you together forever. I do. Then there was courtship . Dating. Fun and laughter. Probably quite a few smiles and kisses and embraces along the way. All well and good. Then you proposed. Or he proposed. Or she proposed. Well someone popped the question. And the answer was yes. Then the fun and games began in earnest. You see, planning a wedding is a little like a military operation in our opinion. There are so many moving parts that need to combine, working in harmony, to achieve a magical result on your wedding day. To do this, its best not to leave anything to chance. This post is about one of the biggest moments in a wedding – the arrival of the Bride and the Groom at the ceremony, usu...

There is nothing like a wedding is there

Have you ever seen a wedding? A magnificent day, and one we imagine to be so much fun for all involved. Well OK, perhaps fun isn’t quite the right word. A wedding is a huge day, a special day, and at least in theory, a wedding is meant to be a once in a lifetime event. Perhaps less so these days though. Ahh never mind the ramblings of an old cynic. Weddings are incredible. A happy couple who are the centre of attention of their adoring family and friends for the day, as their union is recognized and celebrated. Does it get better? Not really. But what are some of the things that go into making a wedding day a success? Other than Bride meets Groom, prolonged courtship, romance, and that sort of thing there is a huge amount of planning? We will mention a few elements now as a part of our series of posts about weddings and events. Lets start with perhaps one of the most essential, and most visible, parts of a wedding. Think any celebrity or royal wedding and what is on the...

Waste - its so unusual

Waste is an unusual thing to blog about. Unusual because it’s not something many people often discuss. Sure, we talk about sustainability, and recycling but the very word waste conjures up unpleasant connotations. Images of grime and dirt, something no one wants, so it is thrown away into a bin, put in a big noisy smelly truck in the middle of the night and put in a hole in the middle of nowhere while no one is watching. Then covered up, out of site, out of mind. That is how we humans have handled waste, at least for the last fifty years or so. We could have been doing things differently. It is absolutely fairy to say that we should be doing things very differently. Here is what I mean. True sustainability relies on using only what we need, so there are not many byproducts – or waste – left over. And even those leftover parts have uses in many cases. A good example today is restaurant food waste. Our portion sizes are huge, by historic standards. And so leftover food gets ...
